After the intro shoot, I couldn’t wait to get the team back together for a bonus summer shoot. This one was a little more planned and creative with specific denim outfit mood boards, a specific theme, and a location that matched perfectly.
For this shoot, we headed to DePauw Nature Park to capture a “denim desert” vibe. Indiana may not have real deserts, but with the right location, lighting, and help of Levi the 7 foot denim cactus I created, we made it feel like we were a long way away from Indiana.
The girls each brought their best denim outfits, everything from jean jackets and vests to skirts and playful denim combos. We mixed shades, textures, and layers, and it came together perfectly for the vibe we were going for. They each wore something true to themself but still on theme.
And the centerpiece of the shoot? A 7-foot denim cactus I built by hand with the help of my dad. I named him Levi of course. We used thrifted and repurposed denim pieces to cover the hand crafted PVC frame in all sorts of blue shades, creating a fun and unique prop that made the shoot so unique. I had been dreaming of creating a denim cactus for about a year and was so excited to actually make it come to life after many trial and error attempts. It turned out even better than I could've even imagined.
